CHARACTER
NAME: Ozymandias
CANON: Fate/Grand Order
CANON POINT: Post-Singularity Six (Camelot)
AGE: Unknown, appears to be mid to late 20s
BACKGROUND: General information & his role in Fate/Grand Order

PERSONALITY:

Ozymandias is a god king, and as such, he leans into his status as one would expect: He is a powerful ruler who demands reverence and praise from the masses. However, this isn’t a one-way relationship with his role as Pharaoh. Indeed, Ozymandias loves being on top of the world, but he also prides himself on taking care of his people and doing everything within his ability to see his kingdom prosper. He’s a military leader and exemplary statesman, and while he can be easy to anger - be it disrespect to him or threats against his empire - he has enough self control to think the situation through before acting, as opposed to blindly lashing out against his adversaries.

Given his experience and general demeanor, Ozymandias can come across as intimidating or distant. He doesn’t bother to mingle with commoners, seeing himself as above others. He takes his role of Pharaoh seriously, upholding the law of truth and justice that is expected of Ancient Egyptian monarchs, but he also can tip in arrogance due to his entitled nature. Having never gone without, he can’t relate to the common man. Being groomed for godhood meant never having to worry about taking care of himself, as someone was always there to do it for him.

While he is accustomed to being waited on and pampered, he is most certainly an ambitious individual, especially when he can prove his might to any enemies or bystanders. He loves to display his battle prowess and to test the abilities of others. He is secure in his belief that he is strong, powerful, and worthy of the moniker The Great. When confronted in his palace by the protagonist, Ozymandias’ first order of business was to bring out enemy beasts for a battle for his entertainment. He was mildly impressed when the protagonist won the battle, but ultimately decided it was in his best interest to fight the protagonist to test their “worthiness” instead.

Being powerful in terms of sheer strength, magical ability, and social status does have its downsides, just like anything else. Ozymandias is prone to boredom and isolating himself, as nobody is as good as he is and he isn’t stimulated by the mundane practices of mundane people. Given his preference to cavort with other rulers like himself, he has a very narrow scope of what is considered friendship or allyship. He has been shown to get along with Alexander the Great; Nitocris, another Pharaoh that predated his rule, and even the demigod Gilgamesh from Mesopotamian lore. When it comes to characters such as the protagonist, who are not of noble or divine birth, it takes a lot more effort to win him over.

As his job is essentially intertwined with his very being, Ozymandias treats virtually everyone as “subjects” - although it is not impossible to win his favor. To really get to know Ozymandias is to see him more as a person and less like a god, and he returns that treatment in kind. He has great fondness and respect for his adopted brother Moses, and speaks at great length and with open affection about his wife Nefertari. These two examples were the closest to him when he was alive, and he cherishes those bonds. To a lesser, but significant extent is the servant Nitocris. While he knew of her prior his summoning her, they ended up developing a sort of familial relationship due to reliance on one another. Nitocris in and of herself is not impressive aside from her noble birth and Egyptian origin, but Ozymandias trusted her and kept giving her chances to prove herself because of his affinity for her.

All in all: it’s tough to be a god. Representing an entire nation, protecting and providing for the people that enable your lavish, holy lifestyle, and smiting enemies isn’t exactly for the lazy or the weak-willed. Yet, there is still a human core with softer, human emotions. It’s not that they’re buried underneath everything else, but that the qualities that make a Pharaoh are at the forefront. He is known as The Great and that is what he strives to be.

POWERS/ABILITIES:

Wiki info & some additional information:

- Ozymandias is an incredibly powerful user of Ancient Egyptian magic. His primary method of attack is sunbeam lasers.

- His class, Rider, gives him exceptional skill at handling mounts, whether it is a chariot, horse, beast, etc.

- His Noble Phantasm (i.e. ultimate special attack), called Ramesseum Tentrys, will not be accessible in game, as he essentially has to break reality to conjure it. The Noble Phantasm also has auxiliary capabilities, like the Dendera Light, which is basically a giant ray gun.
